A single crystalline and 50nm thin gold nanoplatelet was etched with a focused gallium ion beam in a Tescan Lyra 3 FIB/SEM system. The pattern is a so called Hilbert curve, a space filling fractal that can be used as an optical nanoantenna. The image was taken at 25kV acceleration voltage with the secondary electron detector at a sample tilt of 55°. The coloring of the image was done with the program “gwyddion”, where the “sky” color palette was used.
